Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah and ʿAli ibn Muhammad narrated to us; they said: Wakiʿ narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman, the freedman of the family of Talhah, from Salim, from Ibn ʿUmar, that he divorced his wife while she was menstruating. ʿUmar mentioned this to the Prophet, who said, ‘Tell him to take her back; then let him divorce her when she is pure or pregnant.’
