حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ مُظَاهِرِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ " طَلاَقُ الأَمَةِ تَطْلِيقَتَانِ وَقُرْؤُهَا حَيْضَتَانِ " . قَالَ أَبُو عَاصِمٍ فَذَكَرْتُهُ لِمُظَاهِرٍ فَقُلْتُ حَدِّثْنِي كَمَا حَدَّثْتَ ابْنَ جُرَيْجٍ . فَأَخْبَرَنِي عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ " طَلاَقُ الأَمَةِ تَطْلِيقَتَانِ وَقُرْؤُهَا حَيْضَتَانِ " .

Muhammad ibn Bashshar narrated to us; Abu ʿAsim narrated to us; Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, from Muzahir ibn Aslam, from al-Qasim, from ʿAʾishah, from the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace), who said: ‘The divorce of an enslaved woman is two pronouncements, and her qurʾ is two menstrual cycles.’ Abu ʿAsim said: I mentioned it to Muzahir and said, ‘Narrate it to me just as you narrated it to Ibn Jurayj.’ He then informed me, from al-Qasim, from ʿAʾishah, from the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace), who said: ‘The divorce of an enslaved woman is two pronouncements, and her qurʾ is two menstrual cycles.’
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ " طَلاَقُ الأَمَةِ تَطْلِيقَتَانِ وَقُرْؤُهَا حَيْضَتَانِ " .
قُرْء can refer to a menstrual period or a period of purity; this report glosses the waiting interval as two حيضات (menstrual cycles) in related wording but uses qurʾ here.
Should qurʾ be retained or translated as ‘menstrual cycles’ in this report’s wording?
قَالَ أَبُو عَاصِمٍ فَذَكَرْتُهُ لِمُظَاهِرٍ فَقُلْتُ حَدِّثْنِي كَمَا حَدَّثْتَ ابْنَ جُرَيْجٍ .
