Bishr ibn Hilal al-Sawwaf narrated to us: Jaʿfar ibn Sulayman al-Dubaʿi narrated to us, from Yazid al-Rishk, from Mutarrif ibn ʿAbdullah ibn al-Shikhkhir, that ʿImran ibn Husayn was asked about a man who divorces his wife and then has intercourse with her, without having witnesses to either his divorce or his return to her. ʿImran said, ‘You divorced contrary to the Sunnah and returned to her contrary to the Sunnah. Have witnesses to your divorce and to your return to her.’
