Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us: ʿAli ibn Mushir narrated to us, from Dawud ibn Abi Hind, from al-Shaʿbi, from Masruq and ʿAmr ibn ʿUtbah, who wrote to Subayʿah bint al-Harith asking her about her case. She wrote back: ‘I gave birth twenty-five days after my husband died, then prepared myself, seeking a good match. Abu al-Sanabil ibn Baʿkak passed by me and said, “You have hurried. Observe the later of the two waiting periods: four months and ten days.” I went to the Prophet and said, “Messenger of Allah, ask Allah to forgive me.” He said, “What for?” I told him, and he said, “If you find a suitable husband, then marry.”’

The phrase فَتَهَيَّأَتْ تَطْلُبُ الْخَيْرَ is rendered as preparing herself while seeking a good match; the waiting-period dispute is preserved as stated.
The phrase تَطْلُبُ الْخَيْرَ literally means seeking good; in this marriage context it likely refers to seeking a suitable match.
Does ‘seeking a good match’ make the contextual sense clear without adding too much?
