Sufyan ibn Wakiʿ narrated to us: Rawh narrated to us; and Ahmad ibn Mansur narrated to us: Hajjaj ibn Muhammad narrated to us. Both reported from Ibn Jurayj, who informed me: Abu al-Zubayr informed me, from Jabir ibn ʿAbdullah, who said: ‘My maternal aunt was divorced and wanted to harvest her date palms, but a man rebuked her for going out to them. She came to the Prophet, and he said, “Yes, harvest your date palms, for perhaps you will give charity or do some good.”’

The verb تَجُدَّ means to harvest dates from the palm trees. The wording فَزَجَرَهَا رَجُلٌ أَنْ تَخْرُجَ إِلَيْهِ is kept general as a man warning her against going out to the palms.
The wording says a man rebuked or forbade her from going out to the palms; it does not identify him or state his reason.
Does ‘a man rebuked her for going out to them’ preserve the source without implying his role?
