Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَنْبَأَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " إِنَّمَا الْيَمِينُ عَلَى نِيَّةِ الْمُسْتَحْلِفِ " .
Translation
Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us; Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us; Hushaym informed us, from ʿAbbad ibn Abi Salih, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, ‘An oath is according to the intention of the person who demands it.’
