Sunan Ibn Majah 2128
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا خَارِجَةُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الأَشَجِّ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ " مَنْ نَذَرَ نَذْرًا وَلَمْ يُسَمِّهِ فَكَفَّارَتُهُ كَفَّارَةُ يَمِينٍ وَمَنْ نَذَرَ نَذْرًا لَمْ يُطِقْهُ فَكَفَّارَتُهُ كَفَّارَةُ يَمِينٍ وَمَنْ نَذَرَ نَذْرًا أَطَاقَهُ فَلْيَفِ بِهِ " .
Hisham ibn ʿAmmar narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Muhammad al-Sanʿani narrated to us; Kharijah ibn Musʿab narrated to us, from Bukayr ibn ʿAbdullah ibn al-Ashajj, from Kurayb, from Ibn ʿAbbas, from the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace), who said: ‘Whoever makes a vow without specifying it, its expiation is the expiation for an oath; whoever makes a vow that he is unable to fulfill, its expiation is the expiation for an oath; and whoever makes a vow that he is able to fulfill must fulfill it.’
