Abu Bishr, Bakr ibn Khalaf, narrated to us: Yazid ibn Zuray narrated to us, from Dawud ibn Abi Hind, from al-Shabi, from al-Numan ibn Bashir, who said: His father took him to the Prophet ﷺ, carrying him, and said, “Bear witness that I have given al-Numan such and such from my wealth.” He asked, “Have you given all your sons something like what you gave al-Numan?” He said, “No.” He said, “Then ask someone other than me to witness this.” He asked, “Would you not be pleased for them all to be equally dutiful to you?” He said, “Yes.” He said, “Then do not do this.”
