Muḥammad ibn Rumḥ informed us: al-Layth ibn Saʿd informed us, from Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd, from Ibn Ḥibbān—namely Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā ibn Ḥibbān—from Anas ibn Mālik, from his maternal aunt Umm Ḥarām bint Milḥān, who said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, slept near me one day, then awoke smiling. I said: “Messenger of God, what makes you smile?” He said: “People from my community were shown to me, sailing on the back of this sea like kings on thrones.” She said: “Pray to God to make me one of them.” He prayed for her, then slept again and did the same thing. She repeated what she had said, and he gave her the same answer as before. She said: “Pray to God to make me one of them.” He said: “You are among the first.” He said: She went out with her husband ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit on a military expedition, when the Muslims first sailed on the sea with Muʿāwiyah ibn Abī Sufyān. When they returned from their campaign and disembarked in Syria, a mount was brought near her to ride. It threw her, and she died.
