Muḥammad ibn Bashshār narrated to us: Wahb ibn Jarīr narrated to us: My father narrated to us, saying: I heard Yaḥyā ibn Ayyūb narrate from Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb, from ʿAlī ibn Rabāḥ, from Abū Qatādah al-Anṣārī, that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “The best horses are jet-black, with a white blaze and white stockings, a white mark on the nose, and a free right foreleg. If not jet-black, then a chestnut with these markings.”
