Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us: Abū Bakr ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated to us, from ʿĀṣim, from al-Ḥārith ibn Ḥassān, who said: I arrived in Medina and saw the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, standing on the pulpit, with Bilāl standing before him, a sword slung over his shoulder, and a black banner. I asked: “Who is that?” They said: “That is ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ, who has arrived from a campaign.”
