Muḥammad ibn Bashshār narrated to us: Abū ʿĀmir narrated to us: Sufyān narrated to us, from Abū Isḥāq, from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib, who said: We used to say that the companions of the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, numbered three hundred and some-teen on the day of Badr, matching the number of the companions of Ṭālūt who crossed the river with him; none crossed with him except a believer.
