Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us: Wakīʿ narrated to us, from Sufyān, from Abū al-Zinād, from al-Muraqqiʿ ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣayfī, from Ḥanẓalah the scribe, who said: We campaigned with the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, and passed by a slain woman with people gathered around her. They moved aside for him, and he said: “She was not one of those who were fighting.” Then he said to a man: “Go to Khālid ibn al-Walīd and tell him: The Messenger of God commands you: Do not kill any children or hired laborers.” Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us: Qutaybah narrated to us: al-Mughīrah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us, from Abū al-Zinād, from al-Muraqqiʿ, from his grandfather Rabāḥ ibn al-Rabīʿ, from the Prophet, a similar report. Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah said: al-Thawrī makes an error in this report.
