Muḥammad ibn Rumḥ informed us: al-Layth ibn Saʿd informed us, from Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd, from Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā ibn Ḥibbān, from Abū ʿAmrah, from Zayd ibn Khālid al-Juhanī, who said: A man from Ashjaʿ died at Khaybar, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Pray over your companion.” The people objected, and their faces changed. When he saw this, he said: “Your companion committed misappropriation in the path of God.” Zayd said: They searched through his belongings and found some Jewish beads worth less than two dirhams.
