ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad narrated to us: Abū Usāmah narrated to us, from Abū Sinān ʿĪsā ibn Sinān, from Yaʿlā ibn Shaddād, from ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit, who said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, led us in prayer on the day of Ḥunayn beside a camel from the spoils. Then he reached toward the camel and took a piece of its hair, meaning a tuft of wool, and held it between his fingers. He said: “People, this is part of your spoils. Return everything, from a thread and a needle to anything above or below that, for misappropriation is a disgrace for its perpetrator on the Day of Resurrection, bringing shame and fire.”
