Hishām ibn ʿAmmār narrated to us: al-Walīd narrated to us: Abū Rāfiʿ—that is, Ismāʿīl ibn Rāfiʿ—narrated to us, from Sumayy, the client of Abū Bakr, from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from Abū Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Whoever meets God without a trace of service in His path will meet God with a deficiency.”
