Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Numayr and Ali ibn Muhammad both narrated to us: Waki narrated to us: Ismail ibn Abi Khalid narrated to us, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from Ata, from Jabir, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sold a mudabbar.

Mudabbar is a slave whose emancipation is pledged to take effect upon the owners death. The source text contains an apparent stray Arabic character in the honorific after the Prophets name; it does not affect the readable report.
