Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us: Wakiʿ ibn al-Jarrah narrated to us; and Abu Bishr, Bakr ibn Khalaf, narrated to us: Yahya ibn Saʿid narrated to us. Both reported from Sufyan, from Ismaʿil ibn Umayyah, from ʿAbdullah ibn ʿUrwah, from ʿUrwah, from ʿAishah, who said: ‘The Prophet married me in Shawwal and consummated the marriage with me in Shawwal. Which of his wives was more favored by him than I was?’ ʿAishah used to like for her women to enter into marriage in Shawwal.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The closing phrase is rendered as her preference that women in her household/community begin married life in Shawwal.
