Jabir ibn Abdullah said: I married a woman during the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). I met the Messenger of Allah and he asked, ‘Have you married, Jabir?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ He asked, ‘A virgin or a previously married woman?’ I said, ‘A previously married woman.’ He said, ‘Why not a virgin, so that you could play with her?’ I replied, ‘I have sisters, and I feared that she would come between me and them.’ He said, ‘Then that is the reason.’
