Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us: Sufyan ibn Uyaynah narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Said, from Hanzalah ibn Qays, who said: I asked Rafi ibn Khadij. He said, “We used to rent land on the condition that you would take what this portion produced and I would take what that portion produced. We were forbidden to rent it on the basis of what it produced, but we were not forbidden to rent land for silver.”
