Muhammad ibn Aqil ibn Khuwaylid al-Naysaburi narrated to us; Hafs ibn Abdullah al-Sulami narrated to us; Ibrahim ibn Tahman narrated to us, from Amr ibn Yahya ibn Umarah, from his father, from Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘There is no charity due on fewer than five camels, and nothing is due on four. When they reach five, one sheep is due, up to nine. When they reach ten, two sheep are due, up to fourteen. When they reach fifteen, three sheep are due, up to nineteen. When they reach twenty, four sheep are due, up to twenty-four. When they reach twenty-five, a bint makhad is due, up to thirty-five. If there is no bint makhad, then a male ibn labun is due. If the herd increases by one camel, a bint labun is due, up to forty-five. If it increases by one camel, a hiqqah is due, up to sixty. If it increases by one camel, a jadha‘ah is due, up to seventy-five. If it increases by one camel, two bint labun are due, up to ninety. If it increases by one camel, two hiqqah are due, up to one hundred and twenty. Then for every fifty camels, a hiqqah is due, and for every forty, a bint labun.’
