Al-Abbas ibn Muhammad al-Duri narrated to us: Yahya ibn Abi Bukayr narrated to us: Sharik narrated to us, from Asim, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: The Fire was fueled for a thousand years until it turned white; then it was fueled for a thousand years until it turned red; then it was fueled for a thousand years until it turned black. It is black like the darkest night.
