Sunan Ibn Majah 4119
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ يَقُولُ " أَلاَ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِخِيَارِكُمْ " . قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ . قَالَ " خِيَارُكُمُ الَّذِينَ إِذَا رُءُوا ذُكِرَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " .
Translation
Suwayd ibn Sa‘id narrated to us; Yahya ibn Sulaym narrated to us, from Ibn Khuthaym, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from Asma’ bint Yazid, who heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: “Shall I tell you who are the best among you?” They said: “Yes, Messenger of Allah.” He said: “The best of you are those who, when seen, bring Allah—Mighty and Majestic—to mind.”
