Sunan Ibn Majah 4137
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " لَيْسَ الْغِنَى عَنْ كَثْرَةِ الْعَرَضِ وَلَكِنَّ الْغِنَى غِنَى النَّفْسِ " .
Translation
Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us; Sufyan ibn ‘Uyaynah narrated to us, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A‘raj, from Abu Hurayrah, who said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Wealth is not having abundant possessions; true wealth is contentment of the soul.”
