‘Abd Allah ibn Mas‘ud reported that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: ‘When the two parties to a sale disagree, the seller’s word is accepted, and the buyer has the choice.’ Al-Tirmidhi transmitted it. A version transmitted by Ibn Majah and al-Darimi says: ‘If the parties to a sale disagree while the sold item remains as it was and neither has proof, the seller’s word is accepted, or they may rescind the sale.’ Its listed grading has not been studied (al-Albani).
