Abu Sa‘id reported: A man in the time of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) suffered a loss on fruit he had bought, and his debt grew large. The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: ‘Give charity to him.’ People gave charity to him, but it was not enough to repay his debt. The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) told his creditors: ‘Take what you find; you are entitled to nothing more than that.’ Muslim transmitted it. Its listed grading is sahih (al-Albani).
