Mishkat al-Masabih 2922
وَعَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِنَّ أَعْظَمَ الذُّنُوبِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ أَنْ يَلْقَاهُ بِهَا عَبْدٌ بَعْدَ الْكَبَائِرِ الَّتِي نَهَى اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنْ يَمُوتَ رَجُلٌ وَعَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ لَا يَدَعُ لَهُ قَضَاءً» . رَوَاهُ أَحْمد وَأَبُو دَاوُد

Abu Musa reported that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: ‘Among the greatest sins a servant can bring before Allah, after the major sins Allah has forbidden, is to die owing a debt without leaving anything with which it can be repaid.’ Ahmad and Abu Dawud transmitted it. Its listed grading has not been studied (al-Albani).
