Abdullah ibn Umar reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ assigned the date palms and land of Khaybar to its Jewish inhabitants to cultivate with their own resources, on condition that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would receive half of its produce. In the version narrated by al-Bukhari, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave Khaybar to the Jews to work and cultivate, and they would receive half of what it yielded. Muslim narrated the first version; al-Bukhari narrated the second.
