Arabic hadith text
وَعَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَضَى فِي السَّيْلِ الْمَهْزُورِ أَنْ يُمْسَكَ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ ثُمَّ يُرْسَلَ الْأَعْلَى عَلَى الْأَسْفَل. رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد وَابْن مَاجَه

Amr ibn Shuaib reported from his father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled concerning the Mahzur flood channel: “Water must be held back until it reaches the ankles, then the upper field should release it to the lower one.” Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah narrated it.
