Iyad ibn Himar reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever finds lost property should have one or two trustworthy people witness it. He must not conceal it or hide it. If he finds its owner, he must return it to him; otherwise, it is wealth belonging to Allah, which He gives to whomever He wills.” Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and al-Darimi narrated it.
