Mishkat al-Masabih 1921

‘Abd Allah ibn Mas‘ud attributed this to the Prophet: ‘There are three whom Allah loves: a man who rises at night to recite the Book of Allah; a man who gives charity with his right hand, concealing it so that his left hand does not know—I think he said—from it; and a man who is in a military detachment whose companions flee, but he faces the enemy.’ Al-Tirmidhi transmitted it and said: ‘This is an unpreserved hadith; one of its transmitters, Abu Bakr ibn ‘Ayyash, made many errors.’
