Translation

Abu Dharr reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘There are three whom Allah loves and three whom Allah hates. Those whom Allah loves are: a man who comes to a people and asks them in Allah’s name, without invoking kinship between himself and them, and they refuse him; then one man withdraws from among them and gives him secretly, so that no one knows of his gift except Allah and the giver; a people who travel through the night until sleep becomes dearer to them than anything it could be compared with, and when they lay their heads down, one man rises, humbles himself before Me, and recites My verses; and a man in a military detachment which meets the enemy and is routed, but he advances with his chest toward them until he is killed or granted victory. The three whom Allah hates are an old man who commits fornication, a poor man who is conceited, and a rich man who is oppressive.’ Al-Tirmidhi and al-Nasa’i transmitted it.
