Mishkat al-Masabih 1926, 1927
وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ وَسَّعَ عَلَى عِيَالِهِ فِي النَّفَقَةِ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ وَسَّعَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ سَائِرَ سَنَتِهِ» . قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: إِنَّا قَدْ جربناه فوجدناه كَذَلِك. رَوَاهُ رزين وَرَوَى الْبَيْهَقِيُّ فِي شُعَبِ الْإِيمَانِ عَنْهُ وَعَنْ أبي هُرَيْرَة وَأبي سعيد وَجَابِر وَضَعفه
Ibn Mas‘ud reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Whoever provides generously for his family on the day of ‘Ashura, Allah will provide generously for him throughout the rest of the year.’ Sufyan said: ‘We tested it and found it to be so.’ Razin transmitted it. Al-Bayhaqi transmitted it in Shu‘ab al-Iman from him, Abu Hurayrah, Abu Sa‘id, and Jabir, and declared it weak.
