It is disliked to breathe into the vessel, and it is recommended to take three breaths, outside the vessel
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا الثَّقَفِيُّ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ،
اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَهَى أَنْيُتَنَفَّسَ فِي الإِنَاءِ .
Translation
Abu Qatada reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) forbade breathing in a vessel.
