وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، - وَاللَّفْظُ لاِبْنِ أَبِي عُمَرَ - قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الأَحْوَلِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عِيَاضٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ لَمَّا نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنِ النَّبِيذِ فِي الأَوْعِيَةِ قَالُوا لَيْسَ كُلُّ النَّاسِ يَجِدُ فَأَرْخَصَ لَهُمْ فِي الْجَرِّ غَيْرِ الْمُزَفَّتِ .

Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah and Ibn Abi Umar narrated to us—and this is Ibn Abi Umar wording: Sufyan narrated to us, from Sulayman al-Ahwal, from Mujahid, from Abu Iyad, from Abdullah ibn Amr, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited nabidh in certain vessels, they said, Not everyone can find another kind. So he granted them permission to use earthenware jars, except those coated with pitch.
