Ahmad ibn Abdullah ibn Yunus reported to us: Zuhayr reported to us: Abu Ishaq reported to us, from Abu al-Ahwas, who heard it from him, from Abdullah, that the Prophet (ﷺ) said to people who stayed away from Friday prayer: ‘I considered ordering a man to lead the people in prayer, then burning the houses of men who stay away from Friday prayer over them.’
Chapter 43
يَجِبُ إِتْيَانُ الْمَسْجِدِ عَلَى مَنْ سَمِعَ النِّدَاءَ
Qutaybah ibn Sa‘id, Ishaq ibn Ibrahim, Suwayd ibn Sa‘id, and Ya‘qub al-Dawraqi reported to us, all from Marwan al-Fazari. Qutaybah said: al-Fazari reported to us, from Ubayd Allah ibn al-Asamm, who said: Yazid ibn al-Asamm reported to us, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: A blind man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, ‘Messenger of Allah, I have no guide to lead me to the mosque.’ He asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) to grant him permission to pray at home, and he granted it. When the man turned away, he called him and said, ‘Do you hear the call to prayer?’ He replied, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘Then answer it.’
