The Book of Paradise, its Description, its Bounties and its Inhabitants

Anas ibn Malik reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, ‘Paradise is surrounded by hardships, and the Fire is surrounded by desires.’

This report was also narrated from Abu Hurayrah through another chain.

Sahl ibn Sa‘d al-Sa‘idi reported: I attended a gathering with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in which he described Paradise. At the end he said, ‘In it are things no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has imagined.’ Then he recited: “Their sides forsake their beds as they call upon their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend from what We have provided for them. No soul knows what joy of the eyes has been hidden for them as a reward for what they used to do.”

Sahl ibn Sa‘d reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, ‘In Paradise there is a tree whose shade a rider may travel beneath for one hundred years without reaching its end.’ Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri also reported from the Prophet (ﷺ): ‘In Paradise there is a tree whose shade a rider on a swift, well-trained horse may travel beneath for one hundred years without reaching its end.’

Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Allah will say to the people of Paradise, ‘People of Paradise!’ They will reply, ‘At Your service, our Lord; all good is in Your hands.’ He will say, ‘Are you content?’ They will say, ‘Why would we not be content, our Lord, when You have given us what You have given to none of Your creation?’ He will say, ‘Shall I not give you something better than that?’ They will ask, ‘Our Lord, what could be better than that?’ He will say, ‘I bestow My pleasure upon you, and I will never be displeased with you afterward.’

Abu Hurayrah reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, ‘Among the people of my community, those who love me most are people who will come after me. Each of them would wish to see me, even at the cost of his family and wealth.’

Anas ibn Malik reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, ‘In Paradise there is a marketplace they visit every Friday. A north wind will blow and scatter [its blessing] over their faces and clothes, increasing their beauty. They will return to their families even more beautiful, and their families will say, “By Allah, you have grown more beautiful since you left us!” They will reply, “And by Allah, you have grown more beautiful since we left you!”’
