Ishaq ibn Mansur narrated to me: Abu Ali Ubayd Allah ibn Abd al-Majid narrated to us: Rabah ibn Abi Maruf narrated to us. He said: I heard Ata say: Safwan ibn Ya'la informed me, from his father (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when a man wearing a cloak marked with traces of khuluq came to him. He said: ‘Messenger of Allah, I have entered ihram for Umrah; what should I do?’ The Prophet remained silent and did not answer him. Umar used to screen him and shade him with a cloth when revelation came down to him. I said to Umar: ‘When revelation comes down to him, I would like to put my head under the cloth with him.’ When revelation came down, Umar covered him with the cloth. I came and put my head under the cloth with him and looked at him. When the revelation had lifted, he said: ‘Where is the one who asked just now about Umrah?’ The man stood and came to him. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘Take off your cloak, wash off the trace of khuluq on you, and do in your Umrah what you would have done in your Hajj.’
