The Book of al-Bay'ah
كتاب البيعة
Chapter 36
مَنْ لَمْ يُعِنْ أَمِيرًا عَلَى الظُّلْمِ
Ka b ibn Ujrah said: The Messenger of Allah came out to us while we were nine, five and four, one group Arab and the other non-Arab. He said: Listen, have you heard that after me there will be rulers? Whoever visits them, believes their lies, and helps their wrongdoing is not of me, nor am I of him, and he will not come to my Basin. Whoever does not visit them, does not believe their lies, and does not help their wrongdoing is of me and I am of him, and he will come to my Basin.
Chapter 37
فَضْلِ مَنْ تَكَلَّمَ بِالْحَقِّ عِنْدَ إِمَامٍ جَائِرٍ
A man asked the Prophet, as he was placing his foot in the stirrup: Which jihad is best? He replied: A truthful word spoken before an unjust ruler.
Chapter 38
ثَوَابِ مَنْ وَفَّى بِمَا بَايَعَ عَلَيْهِ
Ubadah ibn al-Samit said: We were with the Prophet in a gathering when he said: Pledge to me that you will not associate anything with Allah, steal, or commit adultery. He recited the verse to them and continued: Whoever fulfills this has his reward with Allah. Whoever commits one of these acts and Allah conceals it, his matter rests with Allah, Mighty and Sublime: if He wills, He punishes him; if He wills, He forgives him.
Chapter 39
مَا يُكْرَهُ مِنَ الْحِرْصِ عَلَى الإِمَارَةِ
Abu Hurayrah reported that the Prophet said: You will be eager for positions of authority, but they will become regret and sorrow. How pleasant they are at the outset, and how bitter their end.
