Hadith Text

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Friday is twelve hours in which there is no Muslim slave who asks Allah (SWT) for something but He will give it to him, so seek it in the last hour after 'Asr."

Commentary on the Virtue of Friday

Friday (Jumu'ah) is distinguished among days as Allah has endowed it with special blessings and moments of divine response. The Prophet (ﷺ) informs us that throughout this day, particularly during its twelve hours, supplications are readily accepted by the Almighty.

The Special Hour of Response

While the entire day carries merit, the final hour after 'Asr prayer is singled out as the most opportune time for du'a. Scholars explain this is when divine mercy descends abundantly and gates of acceptance are wide open for sincere servants.

Conditions for Acceptance

The hadith specifies "Muslim slave" indicating the supplicant must be a believer in Islamic monotheism. The phrase "asks Allah for something" encompasses all permissible requests that align with divine wisdom - whether spiritual blessings, worldly needs, or protection from harm.

Practical Implementation

The wise Muslim should prepare for this blessed hour by performing 'Asr prayer punctually, then engaging in sincere remembrance and supplication. One should face the qibla, begin with praise of Allah, send blessings upon the Prophet, then ask with conviction and humility.

Divine Wisdom in Timing

Placing this special hour at day's end teaches us to conclude our weekly cycle in divine remembrance. As the week completes, we seek Allah's acceptance for what passed and His blessings for what comes, maintaining continuous connection with our Creator.
