Sunan an-Nasa'i 1430

Qutaybah narrated to us; he said: Bakr—meaning Ibn Mudar—narrated to us, from Ibn al-Had, from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, from Abu Salamah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: I went to Mount Tur and found Ka‘b there. He and I spent a day together: I told him reports from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he told me from the Torah. I said to him: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The best day on which the sun rises is Friday. On it Adam was created, on it he was sent down to earth, on it his repentance was accepted, on it he died, and on it the Hour will begin. Every creature on earth, except the son of Adam, listens anxiously on Friday morning until the sun rises, fearing the Hour. There is an hour on it in which no believer happens to be praying and asks Allah for something without Him granting it to him.” Ka‘b said: “That day comes once every year.” I said: “Rather, it comes every Friday.” Ka‘b read the Torah, then said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has spoken the truth; it is every Friday.” I left and met Basrah ibn Abi Basrah al-Ghifari. He asked, “Where have you come from?” I said, “From Mount Tur.” He said, “If I had met you before you went there, you would not have gone.” I asked him why, and he said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘No riding animals are saddled for a journey except to three mosques: the Sacred Mosque, my mosque, and the Mosque of Bayt al-Maqdis.’” Then I met ‘Abdullah ibn Salam and said: “If only you had seen me: I went to Mount Tur and met Ka‘b. We spent a day together: I told him reports from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he told me from the Torah. I said to him: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘The best day on which the sun rises is Friday. There is an hour on it in which no believing servant happens to be praying and asks Allah for something without Him granting it to him.’ Ka‘b said: “That day comes once every year.” ‘Abdullah ibn Salam said: “Ka‘b has lied.” I said: “Then Ka‘b read the Torah and said, ‘The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has spoken the truth; it is every Friday.’” ‘Abdullah said: “Ka‘b has spoken the truth. I know which hour it is.” I said, “Brother, tell me.” He said: “It is the last hour of Friday, before the sun sets.” I said: “Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say, ‘No believer happens upon it while he is praying’—and that hour is not a time of prayer?” He said: “Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say, ‘Whoever prays and then sits waiting for the next prayer remains in prayer until the prayer that follows comes to him’?” I said, “Yes.” He said: “Then that is how it is.”
