On the authority of Abu Sa‘id Sa‘d ibn Malik ibn Sinan al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘There is to be neither harm nor reciprocating harm.’ A hasan hadith, narrated by Ibn Majah [see no. 2341], al-Daraqutni [no. 4/228], and others as a connected report. Malik also narrated it [2/746] in al-Muwatta’, as a mursal report, from ‘Amr ibn Yahya, from his father, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), omitting Abu Sa‘id. It has other chains, some of which strengthen one another.

Notes and open questions — unreviewed

The Arabic مسندًا is a technical hadith descriptor; “connected report” is a literal rendering and may not capture its full technical force.

Which established English technical equivalent is preferred in the project terminology?

The source expressly labels Malik’s transmission مرسلًا and says Abu Sa‘id is omitted. The technical term’s exact English convention is not defined in the supplied materials.

Should the project retain “mursal” as a transliterated technical term or use another established equivalent?
