On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Every joint of a person owes charity each day on which the sun rises. To judge fairly between two people is charity. To help a man with his riding animal by helping him mount it or lifting his belongings onto it is charity. A good word is charity. Every step you take toward prayer is charity, and removing something harmful from the road is charity.’ [Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim].
