Arabic hadith text
وعن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " الرجل على دين خليله، فلينظر أحدكم من يخالل".
((رواه أبو داود، والترمذي بإسناد صحيح، وقال الترمذي: حديث حسن)).
Translation
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported
I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "Man follows his friend's religion, you should be careful who you take for friends".[Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi, who classified it as Hadith Hasan].
