حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْخَلاَّلُ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَرَجُلٌ سَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ عَلَيْنَا أُمَرَاءُ يَمْنَعُونَا حَقَّنَا وَيَسْأَلُونَا حَقَّهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " اسْمَعُوا وَأَطِيعُوا فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيْهِمْ مَا حُمِّلُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ مَا حُمِّلْتُمْ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .

Al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali al-Khallal narrated to us: Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us: Shu‘bah informed us, from Simak ibn Harb, from ‘Alqamah ibn Wa’il ibn Hujr, from his father, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), while a man asked him, ‘What do you think if we have leaders over us who withhold our rights from us but demand their rights from us?’ The Messenger of Allah replied, ‘Listen and obey. They are responsible only for what they have been charged with, and you are responsible for what you have been charged with.’ Abu ‘Isa said: This is a hasan sahih hadith.
