Sufyān ibn Wakī‘ narrated to us; ‘Abd al-A‘lā narrated to us, from al-Jurayrī, from Abū Naḍrah, from Abū Sa‘īd, who said: The Messenger of Allah met Ibn Ṣā’id on one of the roads of Madinah and detained him. He was a Jewish boy with a lock of hair, and Abū Bakr and ‘Umar were with the Prophet. The Messenger of Allah said to him, “Do you testify that I am the Messenger of Allah?” He replied, “Do you testify that I am Allah’s messenger?” The Prophet said, “I believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day.” The Prophet then asked him, “What do you see?” He said, “I see a throne above the water.” The Prophet said, “You see the throne of Iblīs above the sea.” He asked, “What else do you see?” He replied, “A truthful one and two liars—or two truthful ones and a liar.” The Prophet said, “It has been confused for him.” Then he called him.
Reports on this topic are also related from ‘Umar, Ḥusayn ibn ‘Alī, Ibn ‘Umar, Abū Dharr, Ibn Mas‘ūd, Jābir, and Ḥafṣah. Abū ‘Īsā said: This is a ḥasan hadith.
