"There are two groups in my Ummah for whom there is no share in Islam: The Murji'ah and the Qadariyyah."Another chain reports a similar narration.
Hadith Commentary: Chapters On Al-Qadar
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2149 - This profound narration from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) serves as a stern warning against two deviant theological groups: the Murji'ah and the Qadariyyah.
Theological Deviation of Murji'ah
The Murji'ah (Postponers) held that faith (iman) is merely verbal affirmation without necessary connection to actions. They claimed sins do not harm faith and good deeds do not benefit it, thereby emptying Islam of its practical requirements.
This contradicts numerous Quranic verses and prophetic traditions that link faith with action, making deeds an essential component of true belief.
Error of Qadariyyah
The Qadariyyah denied divine decree (qadar), claiming humans create their own actions independently of Allah's will and power. This constitutes rejection of one of Islam's six pillars of faith.
Their position implies Allah's knowledge is limited and His will is not comprehensive, attributes utterly unbecoming of the Creator.
Orthodox Position
Ahl al-Sunnah affirms both divine decree and human responsibility. Allah creates human actions while humans acquire them through choice and will - both being subject to Allah's eternal knowledge and predestination.
This balanced understanding preserves Allah's absolute sovereignty while maintaining human accountability for choices made.
Severity of Warning
The phrase "no share in Islam" indicates the gravity of these deviations. While not necessarily declaring outright disbelief, it warns that such beliefs fundamentally corrupt one's understanding of Islam.
These theological errors strike at the heart of Islamic creed and must be avoided by all who seek sound belief.
