حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ أُرَاهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " مَنْ كَذَبَ فِي حُلْمِهِ كُلِّفَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَقْدَ شَعِيرَةٍ " .

Maḥmūd ibn Ghaylān narrated to us: Abū Aḥmad al-Zubayrī narrated to us: Sufyān narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-Aʿlā, from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sulamī, from ʿAlī, who said—though I think he attributed it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)—that he said: 'Whoever fabricates a dream will be charged on the Day of Resurrection with tying a barley grain [in a knot].'
