حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ، عَنِ عَلِيٍّ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَحْوَهُ . قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ . وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَبِي شُرَيْحٍ وَوَاثِلَةَ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ مِنَ الْحَدِيثِ الأَوَّلِ .

Qutaybah narrated to us: Abū ʿAwānah narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-Aʿlā, from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sulamī, from ʿAlī, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), with a report like the preceding one. He said: 'This hadith is ḥasan.' Reports on this subject are also related from Ibn ʿAbbās, Abū Hurayrah, Abū Shurayḥ, and Wāthilah. Abū ʿĪsā said: 'This version is more sound than the first report.'
