Qutaybah, Ahmad ibn Mani‘, and others narrated to us; they said: Sufyan ibn ‘Uyaynah narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Sa‘id ibn al-Musayyab, who said: ‘Umar said, ‘The blood-money is paid by the agnatic kin, and a wife does not inherit anything from her husband’s blood-money.’ Al-Dahhak ibn Sufyan al-Kilabi then informed him that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had written to him: ‘Give Ashyam al-Dibabi’s wife her inheritance from her husband’s blood-money.’ Abu ‘Isa said: This is a hasan sahih hadith.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
‘Aqilah refers to the agnatic kin who bear blood-money liability. The report juxtaposes ‘Umar’s statement with the written instruction reported by al-Dahhak.

The Arabic includes Abu ‘Isa’s grading, omitted by the English witness.
